Trains

I’ve always loved trains. In just a short while, they can transport you somewhere completely new. In one moment you are in one place. In a heartbeat you are somewhere else. Lost maybe. Not knowing maybe. Gone maybe.
I sit on the train now, watching as the world zooms past. The light bounces off of the window. Trains remind me of my childhood. So excited to go on an adventure. My papa used to take the train to work. We would pick him up at the station every evening. I would run into his arms, never wanting to let go.
I sit on this train with my sketchbook in hand and my foot taps the ground. I look over at Cade sitting next to me. She takes out her earbuds, a stream of french pours out of them.
“What?”
“Nothing.” I smile to myself and she shrugs. My pencil starts to move fast sketching back and fourth, all around the page.
