Auckland

Ciao ciao!

We're back with Frankie B. and this time asking her about all her favorite places in Auckland. See our interview with her here.

Cade: Do you enjoy living in Auckland?

Frankie: Oh yes, I love it! There is so much to see and do.

Romey: Where is a good place for someone to stay in Auckland?

Frankie: There are so many Hotels, Motels and Airbnb's In Auckland. I myself have only ever stayed at my house, but I have only heard good words from relatives about Auckland hotels!

Cade: What are your favourite things about the city? What about your least favourite things?

Frankie: I love all the diversity of Auckland. It offers so many different environments to explore. Urban areas, beaches, forests, you name it we've got it! I don't think you could ever get bored. Although the public transport in Auckland, to get to all the cool places, isn't that great.

Romey: What is your favourite touristy thing to do in Auckland?

Frankie: I love the museum and art gallery. They are both in gorgeous buildings and great to spend a day at. The museum is full of things to discover and on the same grounds are the winter gardens, which are one of my all time favourite places. The Auckland art gallery is in the city off Queen street so you can have a marvel at New Zealand Contemporary art and then go for a shop!

Cade: Where is your favourite place to get a bite to eat?

Frankie: Oh, this is a tough one! For breakfast, Dizengoff on Ponsonby road, their breakfast platter is the bomb and great for sharing. For Lunch, Best Ugly Bagels on Wellesley street is amazing, there are so many toppings and the bagels are ace. For dinner Madam Woo, which is Asian Fusion, is so good, think Japanese style salads, yummy meat dishes and dumplings!

Romey: What's a hidden gem?

Frankie: It depends on what floats your boat, for me Orewa Beach for a morning surf, Kitekite Falls near Piha Beach for a waterfall walk, and the Takapuna to Milford walk because you pass so many lovely swimming spots on the way.

Cade: What is your favorite store to buy clothes at?

Frankie: There are some amazing streets that are full of my favourite shops. Nuffield street in Newmarket that has, Gorman, Superette, Karen Walker, Flo and Frankie, and Huffer. Britomart close to the city has fabric, Lululemon, coop and a.s colour. The last one is Ponsonby Road that had Seed, Good as Gold, Widess, Ruby, Commoners and so many more. Those are all streets in central Auckland which is where I live and spend most of my time but there are lovely shops all over Auckland!

Romey: Where is your favourite cafe to grab a cup of coffee or get some work done?

Frankie: A few of my favourites are Kokako in Grey Lynn, Little Bird the unbakery for vegan and raw goodness, and Bestie cafe in Kings Arcade K road which is super cute.

Cade: If someone only had one day in Auckland what are the best things to see and do?

Frankie: If you like shopping and pounding pavements I would recommend a day in the city, shopping on Queens Street, lunch in Britomart. If you like lazy lunching and beach walks, Takapuna beach is perfect for sand in your toes and an hour long tide watching munch. There is something for every type of person!
