“Papa?” Cade called.
“Cadence? Is that you?” Audrey’s voiced dragged in from the sunroom.
We stumbled in.
“Oh we’re sorry…” Cade trailed off. Papa got up and brought our bags over to the windowsill.
“Don’t be Rome! It’s been a while.” He hugged me as Audrey gently took the napkin from her lap and placed it nicely next to her coffee cup.
I could feel Marie’s deep blue eyes gazing at me. Her eyes went up and down from my gentle curled deep brown hair to my dark eyes. My lips pierce with a simple layer of cherry lip gloss. Then down to my pink shoes.
“I like your shoes.” Marie’s unsteady english tinted with a heavy french accent billowed as she lifted her gaze up towards Cade’s blue hat and wavy hair pinned in a complex pattern.
“Merci.” I said and a smile grew on Marie’s face.
